The setting is instantly relatable: a dysfunctional Delhi government school where almost everything seems to be going wrong. At the centre is Gyaneshwar Tripathi, played by Kay Kay Menon, a laid-back headmaster whose unlikely chance at a Cambridge training programme suddenly gives him a reason to get the school moving.
There’s just one problem. The students aren’t exactly interested in attending classes, the teachers aren’t operating like a perfectly coordinated team, and the school itself desperately needs fixing. The biggest attraction is the combination of Kay Kay Menon’s serious screen presence with an inherently comic situation. He’s not playing the kind of character audiences usually associate with him. Gyaneshwar is flawed, lazy at times and hardly the picture of a model headmaster. There’s also a real-world connection behind the show’s premise. Rajkumar Hirani revealed that the idea originated after he received a call from the Mumbai Cyber Cell during the COVID-19 lockdown, which got him thinking about the growing world of cybercrime.

For viewers who loved the first season, Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 is probably the most familiar pick of the three. The Prime Video comedy-drama brings Amol Parashar, Vinay Pathak and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor back into the rural world of Bhatkandi. The second season premiered on June 23, 2026.
Dr. Prabhat is still trying to improve the neglected primary health centre. But fixing a government health centre isn’t exactly as simple as putting up a new signboard. Medicine shortages, corruption, village politics and bureaucratic hurdles continue to create problems. This time, the fight also revolves around the coveted Adarsh PHC Award. And that’s where the show’s humour comes alive.
What Makes Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 So Watchable?
The series understands something many comedy shows forget: ordinary situations can be incredibly funny when the characters feel real. Dr. Prabhat is idealistic and genuinely wants to make a difference. The people around him, however, don’t always share his sense of urgency. That gap creates the comedy.
Honestly, I enjoyed Season 2 more than the first season. The storyline feels tighter, the comedy lands better, and the characters have much more to do this time around. There’s a warmth to the show that makes even the simplest village situations entertaining.

In fact, Season 2 is starting to give me the same feeling I get while watching Panchayat. I’m not saying it’s exactly on Panchayat’s level yet, but the combination of rural setting, grounded humour, memorable characters and everyday problems is definitely getting there.
For me, this is one of those rare comedy series where the second season feels like a genuine upgrade rather than just another chapter. If you enjoyed Panchayat and want something with a similar rural-comedy vibe, Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 deserves a spot on your watchlist.
